Job Summary
As a Software Development Engineer II at Disney+ Hotstar, you’ll focus on enhancing the video encoding systems. Your responsibilities include optimizing existing software, implementing AI/ML algorithms for intelligent encoding, and contributing to delivering advanced media features.
About the Team
The Platform team ensures seamless content delivery, from global entertainment ingestion to smooth playback on any screen. The Video team focuses on defining end-user experiences, including features like 4K, HDR, and accessibility features.
Key Responsibilities
- Improve existing video/image encoding software within the Hotstar pipeline.
- Apply AI/ML techniques to optimize encoding and develop quality control tools.
- Collaborate with product teams to implement new media features.
- Explore upcoming video technologies and assess their benefits for Hotstar.
- Contribute to maintaining quality assurance systems and troubleshooting issues.
- Guide junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Skills & Attributes for Success
- Proficiency in C++ or Java and object-oriented programming.
- Understanding of audio and video compression and processing.
- Experience in large-scale distributed systems and cloud computing.
- Familiarity with open-source multimedia projects and machine learning applied to video processing.
- Knowledge of media packaging formats and CDN architectures.
